Hattie N.F. Walker, Russell's wife, wrote this check to the Bureau of Risk Insurance drawn on the St. Luke Penny Savings Bank. Russell's name is on the check with a number. He died three years later of tuberculosis, so this may have been a premium for sick insurance in case he became too sick to work.
